Think ‘Pink Possible’ and support breast health this October

It could be you or it could be your wife, mother, sister or best friend.

About 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among U.S. women, representing more than 1 in 4 cancer diagnoses.

Each October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings attention to these sobering facts. And each October, caregivers throughout Aurora Health Care and community members are urged to help raise awareness and support for Aurora Breast Health Funds.

In an effort to increase awareness and raise needed funds for our patients and their families, Aurora Health Care is partnering with community leaders in eastern Wisconsin and offering a variety of ways to show your support through Pink Possible. Proceeds will benefit Aurora Breast Health Funds, supporting education, prevention and survivorship.

Here’s how to get involved:

Bagels: Purchase pink ribbon bagels at Panera Bread locations.

Now through the end of the month, enjoy a delicious Pink Ribbon Bagel while helping put an end to breast cancer!

At participating Panera bakery-cafes in Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Southeastern Wisconsin, 10 cents from the sale of each Pink Ribbon Bagel will be donated to the Aurora Breast Health Funds.

Additionally, a portion of proceeds from the purchase of each Panera Bread travel mug will be donated to Aurora as well.

Visit our website to find a participating Panera location near you.

Shaped in the form of the iconic pink ribbon, the Pink Ribbon Bagel features cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey, and brown sugar, and is baked fresh each morning by Panera’s bakers at participating bakery-cafe. Over eight million Pink Ribbon Bagels have been sold by Panera Bread and its franchisees since its induction in 2001, raising more than $1.3 million for charity.

Beauty: Show your support and enhance your style with pink!

Aurora Health Care is partnering with area salons during the month of October to offer pink hair extensions, pink manicures and pedicures, and other fun activities for a cause.

The public is invited to show support by making an appointment to get a pink hair extension, sold for $15 at participating salons and select community events. Visit our website for a complete list of our salon partners.

Boutique: Get your pink fashion fix!

If you’re a healthcare professional, you can purchase scrubs, footwear and select Fight Like A Girl merchandise from PRN Uniforms throughout October. Ten percent of all sales will be donated to the Aurora Breast Health Funds, so you’ll feel as good as you look. Visit the PRN Uniforms website to purchase your items online.

Our partners have planned a number of other activities throughout the month.  Please visit our Pink Possible event calendar  for more details.
