28th Annual Benefit Ball raises $125,000 to support Aurora Lakeland Medical Center

Attendees of the 28th Annual Benefit Ball raised a record-breaking $125,000 to benefit patients at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. The event was held on Saturday, May 18 at Geneva National in Lake Geneva. All proceeds from the Benefit Ball are directed toward purchasing a state-of-the-art cardiac network monitoring matrix and enhancements for the hospital’s trauma room in the emergency department. The heart monitoring matrix allows for continuous and unobtrusive monitoring of multiple heart rates and rhythms through a computer network of shared knowledge, skills and ability. This year’s Honorary Chairperson was Douglas Batesky, MD, a dedicated physician in emergency medicine. He provides medical control for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program and is on the child and infant mortality review committees. Robert Jambor received the 2013 Humanitarian Award in recognition of his longtime, continued support of Aurora Lakeland Medical Center and the community. The inaugural Kathleen Skowlund Scholarship was present to William Burrough. Kathy recently retired as executive vice president in Aurora Health Care’s south market. This annual event is organized by a community volunteer committee, including Maureen Berkowitz, Marianne Bonifacic, Barb Habrel, Kathy Hartman, Irene Humphrey, Terri Jambor, Jennifer Jones, Susan Krinn, Vicki Lewis, Genna Monticello, Alice Morava, Cathy Slovick, Gwen Swanson, Michelle Weber, Wendy Weiner and Janice Zagorski.
