On June 11th, Green Bay Packer Legend Vince Lombardi would have celebrated his100th birthday. Each year, thousands celebrate his legacy through the annual Vince Lombardi Cancer Walk/Run, which brought in more than 400, 000 supporters, runners, walkers and cancer survivors last weekend to the Milwaukee County Zoo, as well as close to 50 local celebrities who attended the Lombardi Golf Classic in his honor. It truly was a birthday to be celebrated.
Those who supported the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation’s 26th Annual Walk/Run raised more than $204,000 to support local cancer programing and services at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinics throughout eastern Wisconsin. These clinics, housed within Aurora Health Care facilities, truly provide hope to those fighting this disease. It connects patients to top medical leaders, cutting-edge technologies and compassionate caregivers.
I know, because our family has dealt with cancer. And the level of care we received through at St. Luke’s helped my husband beat this disease, which has had a tremendous impact on me and my family.
So, what would Vince Lombardi see today? A team of fighters, not just on the field, but throughout eastern Wisconsin who are not willing to give up; who remember those we’ve lost to cancer, but are dedicated to fighting back and winning. Thank you for supporting this tremendous effort. I am humbled by your generosity and in knowing that every gift can change a life. To find out more about how you can help, click here.
