The 16th Annual McGMO Golfing for Cancer Care event on Friday, July 26 raised more than $54,000 to support the Aurora Cancer Care – Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. This community event was held at Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan.
The event benefits cancer patients throughout Walworth County and its surrounding communities by enhancing patient services, acquiring equipment and investing in new technology at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.
“Together, we continue to help bring state-of-the-art cancer-fighting technologies and services to help save more lives through early detection and screening,” said Mike Grover, one of the McGMO founding members.
Grover continued, “With the community support for this year’s outing, a combined total of nearly $700,000 has been raised for local cancer services. In the past, these dollars have helped purchase needed equipment to support the local cancer program, as well as patient comfort items, including blanket warmers, reclining chairs, and flat-screen TV’s.”
Proceeds raised from the 2013 McGMO event will be used to purchase an advanced high-definition video imaging system for the gastroenterology department. The video system will increase the visualization and detection of potential cancers.
