With almost 150 caregivers, family members and friends participating in this year’s Milwaukee Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, Aurora Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) again captured the largest-team title for the sixth time.
The run/walk was held on Sunday, Nov. 3, when a brisk 39 degrees and plenty of sunshine greeted participants as they made their way through the Milwaukee County Zoo grounds for the annual 5K run and two-mile fun walk.
But the sunny weather wasn’t the best part. The ASMI team raised $4,145, which will be used to help fund programs and provide assistance to the one million adults and 6,000 children in Wisconsin who live every day with the chronic pain of arthritis.
Overall, the event’s 2,900 runners, walkers, and volunteers contributed over $120,000 to fighting the disease affecting one in five persons in the state. That’s 20 percent!
